This new book by Charles Stephens finds itself in good company: a current popular web series and a bevy of biblically-based historical fiction. From beginning to end the characters and events in this new book are well researched and very believable, because they are rooted in reality. Twenty-four letters from the 12 apostles we are most familiar with, and 12 more letters from the apostles who get less attention, but were equally important in the development of the church and Christian faith – the women! The relationships between these historical figures come to life in heartfelt and well-written personal correspondence to family and friends. There is little doubt that in Stephens’ book you’ll learn more about the early expansion of the church as well as the people who were there. Like me, you’ll find yourself wanting to hear more when you’ve finished all 24 letters.
